MUSCAT, OCT 12

A community initiative in Barka has extended support to the blood bank, orphans and families in need, highlighting the importance of local partnerships in strengthening social solidarity and supporting vulnerable groups.

It highlighted the role of cooperation between local authorities, charitable committees and private sector institutions in directing support towards community needs.

The initiative included support for the blood bank, as well as the provision of school supplies for orphans and eligible families for the current academic year. The effort aims to help meet essential educational and healthcare needs while reinforcing community-based charitable work in the wilayat.

The initiative was formally handed over at the Office of the Wali of Barka in the presence of Sayyid Tariq bin Mahmoud al Busaidi, Wali of Barka. Eng Asim bin Ali al Rashdi, Chief Executive Officer of Barka Desalination Company, presented the initiative to Abdul Latif bin Mohammed al Farsi, Chairman of the Zakat and Charitable Donations Committee in Barka.

The occasion highlighted the role of cooperation between local authorities, charitable committees and private sector institutions in directing support towards community needs. The Office of the Wali was commended for encouraging and following up on community initiatives, while the Zakat and Charitable Donations Committee was recognised for its efforts to identify needs and support beneficiaries through various charitable programmes.

Such initiatives play an important role in easing the financial burden on families, helping students prepare for the school year and supporting healthcare services. They also underline the value of coordinated efforts in ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.

The initiative reflects the wider importance of community partnerships in Barka, where collaboration between public institutions, charitable organisations and the private sector can contribute to social welfare and promote a culture of solidarity and shared responsibility.
